amwa began over small, informal dinners, with the intent to bring together women-identifying asians in the art in los angeles. assuming togetherness immediately felt radical, and to further address the lack of representation and community, the idea of presenting works by asian mamas in an asian mamas’ exhibition space was developed. we are asian mamas who work in the arts, here in los angeles.
